Catch Up

Having been avoiding 99% of the internet for about 2 months to avoid Musketeers spoilers (thank you BBC, you bunch of fucks) I have finally today caught up with the last two episodes and can emerge, blinking, back into normal life without having to flinch violently and slam tabs closed every time I see a mention.

(Anyway, I fucking loved it, this is my favourite series by a country mile).

Now I just need to catch up on two months of the internet. Piece of cake, right? Yeah, I shan't even attempt tumblr (half the people I follow seem to have changed their usernames, I have no idea who anyone is anymore!). And LJ will only let me go back 135 entries, I'm sure you used to be able to tab back as far as you wanted? Anyway, if I've missed anything dramatic or gossipworthy, let me know!

I also managed to miss the actual BBC series premiere of the Musketeers at the weekend but that was because I was seeing Howard Charles in King John, so that was okay! He was bloody amazing, and I recommend catching it if you can (if it's it still on? it seemed to be quite a short run).

Also unexpectedly got to go to ComicCon, as [livejournal.com profile] astrolabus had been given tickets for his birthday, where we stalked Peter Davison, and saw Erin Richards (Barbara from Gotham) and got completely spoiled for the end of series 3 of Sleepy Hollow by Tom Mison (Ichabod). Still, he was cute and funny so I'll forgive him, and his dodgy beret.

Also got to see the (Egyptian) Sunken Cities exhibition at the British Museum which was very impressive, and again would recommend, even at £16 to get in. There's something tremendously creepy about footage of giant statues looming up at you under the water, or a thing with golden eyes reflected in a diver's mask...

Wow, that's very encouraging! I'm actually psyched to watch it, now.

It's so, so much better than series 2. it's like they've - thought about the writing. XD

I'm really glad to hear that. Especially given that it's the last series, that's wonderful (and unexpected) news. I've managed to avoid spoilers by mostly being out of the country and consumed by work, so now I have something to look forward to. Yay!

So glad The Musketeers is good, going to watch that soon (got distracted by Midsummer Night's Dream yesterday, which is actually awesome, yay)

Heheh, been seeing a lot of whingeing about Musketeers S3 on Tumblr so glad that someone loved it! I quite liked it overall - much better than S2 - so I'm looking forward to finding out what I think after a more thorough rewatch on a proper TV!

I don't think there was an episode I didn't like. I mean yeah, there was still masses of suspect plotting and dubious life choices and a lot of shouting "Aramis, no!" but hey, it's the Musketeers. XD

You know, I stayed spoiler free for almost 2 months until some asshole had to blurt out who's dying on the Musketeers. And I have only seen the 1st episode yet because I waited for the UK airing and still won't watch more than 1 episode each week... :/ And now I'm not even sure I wanna finish the season at all... oh well...

Yay for going to Comic Con, though :) Tom Mison seems to be such a nice guy :)

And LJ will only let me go back 135 entries, I'm sure you used to be able to tab back as far as you wanted?

Really?
NOt that I needed to catch up lately, but I thought you still could, damn.
Then I'm probably gonna miss something next week when I'm in Paris... oh well...

yeah, that's why I cracked and downloaded them in the end, I really didn't want to see versions that had been cut down so much (once I finally saw the bbc version I think there was almost 15 mins more material!) but avoiding the spoilers was getting ridiculous. hardly anybody's bothering to spoiler tag on tumblr, and the ones that are are all using different/inconsistent tags. in the end I had to leave tumblr entirely, stop reading my LJ flist, mute half my twitter feed...I feel like I've been in exile for months. on the plus side, it's meant I've been able to watch it all without being subjected to all the fandom wank that seems to be going on regarding certain things.

I followed you over from AO3 and I hope you don't mind me commenting.

I had exactly the same reaction. It wasn't perfect, not by a long shot, and the past, present and no doubt future scheduling fuckery will always be irritating, buI loved the development and I loved the fact that so many of the characters got such great endings. Super excited to see what you write in the wake of it!

hello! *waves*
yeah, it's not entirely escaped the batshittery and gaping plotholes but I think it was so much better than the second series that it felt even better than it was XD

I've written a few ficlets to go with this series that I'll probably post as and when they air here (so knowing the bbc by about christmas then) and then one that takes place afterwards that I think ended up about 12k...
