In which Suzie finally agrees to watch a chick flick

So last night I was forced invited to go and see Mamma Mia with some friends from work. Bloody hell, Meryl Streep can sing, can't she! Pierce Brosnan can't though, hehehe. Still, Pierce in a wet shirt makes up for this, I feel.

Now, I'm not sure I've ever seen Colin Firth in anything before, but does he remind anyone else of Piers Morgan? I mean, really. All the way through I kept thinking of it as Piers LOL. And I'd forgotten Christine Baranski was in it, I love her to pieces. So yes, it was very entertaining. And then we went and drank lots of wine and had posh nibbly bits to eat. Rah!

Pierce Brosnan was one of the worst singing celebrities I have ever seen, lol. James Bond shouldn't be singing ABBA songs as far as I'm concerned! :)

I love Colin Firth. I do have a bit of a dislike for Piers Morgan though, so I disagree with you on that one. Meryl Streep is awesome though!

LOL I was in the queue for the loo afterwards, and another group of women were saying how Pierce wouldn't be any good on the X Factor and how he'd never get through boot camp!

[identity profile] freedomreins.livejournal.com 2008-10-18 10:27 am (UTC)(link)
LOL! Obviously you weren't the only one who thought that then eh? :)

Did you stay for the bit during the credits? I am never going to look at Colin and Pierce the same way again, after the spandex and the glitter and the platforms. Oy.

[identity profile] suzie-shooter.livejournal.com 2008-10-18 11:35 am (UTC)(link)
yes! as one of our number had seen it before, and knew to stay in place! (also, the lights didn't come up until after that bit, so we knew something was up!)

Hmmm. He's got the same sort of shifty, ever-so-slightly-too-small eyes, you know, the type that make a man look like a horrible perv that would do you damage in a dark alleyway and ruin your life forever.

*shudders*

I don't like Colin Firth much, can you tell?

[identity profile] suzie-shooter.livejournal.com 2008-10-18 11:36 am (UTC)(link)
*sniggers*

I was getting something of a hint, yes...

Colin Firth manages to look less - smug. I think. And he's got a kinder face. But I see what you mean XD

[identity profile] suzie-shooter.livejournal.com 2008-10-18 11:36 am (UTC)(link)
yay! *sporfles*

I've been saying Piers Morgan and Colin Firth are the same person for years. It doesn't help that Piers is often referring to himself as Colin Firth; and Colin has declared his love for Piers. As well as those rumours he was going to play Piers in a movie of the Insider. XD

I live in hope that Simon Cowell and Piers will one day fight in a fountain in white shirts...

Um. Anyway! I thought Pierce Brosnan was an alright at singing, at least, listenable; it's Colin Firth I thought wasn't. But then I wasn't really listening to Pierce singing as much as staring at him longingly, and discussing how I'm going to marry him... Er...

[identity profile] suzie-shooter.livejournal.com 2008-10-18 11:39 am (UTC)(link)
oh, I'm glad I'm not going mad, LOL.

yeah, Pierce was okay, just not an undiscovered marvel! But he makes up for it in the wet shirt department. And I second the fountain thing...

It's so lovely, isn't it? :D *is completely buying the dvd*

I cracked up in the cinema when Pierce Brosnan started singing. You know that close up of his big weird head, and he looks so serious, and oh. My mother was in bits too. :D

that close up of his big weird head

*sniggers childishly*

Ewwww.... I love Colin Firth, although possibly only becuase I hope that one day he and Hugh Grant will star in a gay romcom and I can watch the secks. But now I'll be thinking of Piers... *bleaches brain*

[identity profile] suzie-shooter.livejournal.com 2008-10-19 12:07 pm (UTC)(link)
then my work here is done...bwah hah hah...

[identity profile] thinkpink20.livejournal.com 2008-10-18 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
When it became obvious that Colin Firth's character was gay, me and my sister turned to one another and the same time in the crowed cinema and both went, 'What?!' really loudly. We got shushed. :D

It's a mad film, but worth it for the madness, methinks.

[identity profile] suzie-shooter.livejournal.com 2008-10-19 12:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh the unexpected!gay was glorious! And when he hugged that bloke in the fountain at the end, the over-excitable ladies in the row behind us all went "Awwww!" :D

[identity profile] thinkpink20.livejournal.com 2008-10-19 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
*giggles* I hated the cheese element of the film and musicals generally bring me out in a rash but I'm so glad I saw it, I couldn't help smiling most of the day afterwards :)

[identity profile] serriadh.livejournal.com 2008-10-18 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh you fucker, Suzie. I used to like Colin Firth. HE IS MR DARCY. He cannot be Piers bloody wanker moron. *LALALALALLALALAAAAAAAAA*

Glad you liked Mamma Mia, though :D
Did you tear up when Streep started singing winner takes it all? Bloody hell but she can act.

[identity profile] suzie-shooter.livejournal.com 2008-10-19 12:09 pm (UTC)(link)
*dies laughing* he is so! he has exactly the same smile!

[identity profile] serriadh.livejournal.com 2008-10-20 09:25 am (UTC)(link)
I am not disagreeing with your point, I just WISH YOU HADN"T TOLD ME so I could remain in happy ignorance of the fact.
