WTF? At least it's not just me then, I got ID for alcohol the other week.

5 bottles of wine in Sainsbury's last night - no problem. 1 small bottle of mead in Tescos this morning, and I appear to have lost 13 years overnight.

It wouldn't be so bad, if it wasn't for the fact that I don't HAVE any ID, because I don't drive. *headdesks repeatedly*

Apparently one is supposed to take this as a compliment ("you look so young" etc). It also only ever happens to me when I don't have ID.

I regularly get ID'd in Co-op by a boy who is not himself legally old enough to sell alcohol. I think it just does it to annoy me now.

Welcome to the club. I got ID'd for a pack of fags 2 or 3 years back, when the legal age to buy them was still 16. That's what you get for dressing like an emo kid. ;)

Hows this one...

A family friend was ID'd in Asda a few weeks ago. He's 46, and has a head of grey hair. He wanted some cans of beer, and when he got to the checkout, they asked for his ID, he handed over his driving licence, and they then refused to serve him, because he was UNDER 50.

Needless to say, he was left feeling insulted and embarrassed, so he no longer shops in Asda.

they refused to serve him even WITH ID? that really IS bizarre.

(and I once refused to go into M&S for several years after they refused to serve me - someone who was obviously younger than me as well - grrr)

wasn't it Asda in the news a while ago for refusing to serve a man in his seventies becasue he didn't have ID, too?

Because those underage children, they love them some mead they do...

*grins* no, don't glare, when I looked baffled and said 'no I'm afraid I don't', she sold it to me anyway :D

My mum kept getting IDed for fags right up until she quit (late 30s).

I've been id'd in supermarkets three times in the past fortnight and its starting to really piss me off. I normally glare politely and go on about having grey hair and being nearly 30. I think they must be having some sort of clampdown...on the wrong bloody people!!
