That's a disturbingly familiar scenario. I could hypothetically be comforted that those sorts of things don't just happen to me - but actually I'd much rather they didn't happen to anyone else either!
Meanwhile, if it was my face, I'd probably have lacerations from the paper and an ongoing bruise. So how are you doing?
