So I appear to have watched the whole of series 4 and 5 of Supernatural in just over a week. Errr. Oops? (Dear Amazon, please send me season 6 quickly, or I will have to bite you, thanks.)

Anyway, I now appear to be in love with Castiel AND Crowley. I'm guessing this is a common reaction, although so far I'm keeping my distance from fandom things, because the only thing I know about the Supernatural fandom is that it apparently harbours even more insane wank than the 1D fandom. And that's an achievement. (Although also because I don't want to be spoilered for the seasons I haven't seen yet).

I've never seen the show myself, but one thing I have noticed is that once people get into Supernatural fandom they never talk about anything else, ever again. And then they stop posting altogether. I've seen it happen to half a dozen people who used to be interesting, so I'm seriously hoping it doesn't happen to you! (Although I suppose they're happy enough out there in Wincest-land, but life is more boring for the rest of us).

well I promise I won't disappear! (I can't promise I won't be boring, but I shall do my best haha)

Lol, being boring certainly isn't what you do best or at least that's what I've heard

I've watched from the start and I stay away from the fandom. It's quite frantic but then the show kinda prompts an insane level of emotion and stress so it's not surprising it kicks off between fans. I think it's a nice place for the most part when the fans get together though. It's very split. It's an odd one, and a unique one.

But I love the show, even if there are still episodes I haven't seen and despite the first half of season 6 which I just describe and still resent in so many ways. Season eight's turning into a real romp :-)

I watched the first few series when they were first on, but then they don't seem to have shown the rest on non-satellite channels here, and it's taken me this long to get back into it! at least with box-sets the shite bits go past quicker...

I ADORE Crowley. And Mark Sheppard is always good value (I remember him way back on one of my fave episodes of the X Files!)

Yes, it's natural to fall for Castiel and Crowley, and I find I enjoy the show a lot more when skirting general SPN fandom. But some very amazing people are in the fandom, so you have to weigh your options!

I watched the show from the beginning, and started staying far away from its fandom about half-way into season 1. I've been in all kinds of online fandoms since about 1997 and before that in offline fandoms. The Supernatural fandom is the craziest fandom I've ever encountered, certainly not because everybody is crazy but because its crazy people are the loudest.

It certainly seems to have the worst rep as a fandom. I watched the first three series as they happened (if you see what I mean) but never ventured into the fandom side of things. think I'll keep my distance for now...

Crowley ♥. Castiel is also amazing but sometimes certain writers write him... badly, I find. Especially in... whatever season it was. Six, actually, I think. ...Sorry. But you get Balthazar and he's amazing.

Also, yes, the fandom is crazy. The fact writers have to keep killing female characters because of fangirl bitchiness is awful. (I liked Bela, damnit).
Though as seasons go on, writers begin to poke more and more fun at their fans. (incidentally, poking youtube for the actors' con interviews is always fun because they do so much fanservice. :D)
Admittedly, I'm about the hugest fangirl ever, but I just can't get into the fandom because of all the crazies. It's just so vast too. Livejournal, Tumblr, etc all have their own cliques, and it's so much to try and keep up with. But on the plus side, it means there's tons of amazing fanart. (It's been a while since I went looking for fic though so can't comment on the quality of that)

And sorry for suddently rambling about Supernatural to you, I probably should shut up. I don't get to talk about it much.

Yeah, I've noticed even in the last series (fifth) a certain - inconsistency, in the way Cas is written. (mind you, that goes for Sam-n-Dean too - "it's a good plan, no, it's a bad, plan, say yes, no, don't say yes, I believe in you, I don't believe in you" - jeez, make your fucking mind up already)

I loved Bela! I was a bit taken aback with the way she seemed to get summarily binned off, that hadn't occurred to me as a reason for it though. ouch. yeah, the female body count is fairly eye-roll-worthy (still bitter about Ellen and Jo). I guess I've become resigned to the massive sexism involved (seriously, Kali needs to be rescued by Gabriel? KALI? Although, yeah, the least said about that entire episode the better...)

And please, ramble all you want! (hah, I had a fandom collision the other day, where Celia Walden interviewed Nick Grimshaw, and I wanted to squeal at people, but they'd have looked at me blankly. and I considered squealing at you, but then realised I'd probably get the same reaction only in relation to Nick, heh)

Yay Supernatural! *g* I've never really been involved in SPN fandom, not least because of it having always been about three years ahead of whatever season I was watching on DVD at the time so I didn't want to be spoiled, so I mostly just read the fic, of which there are some truly splendid ones. What I do love about SPN is how the show is so aware of it's own fans and goes into insane levels of meta about them *g*

see, this is my problem, I live in fear of spoilers! I seem to have managed to avoid most of them whilst it wasn't really catching my eye, but now I'm suddenly automatically drawn to things and I'm living dangerously!

and yeah, some of the episodes in the last couple of series have been spectacular, with the conventions, and fanfic references and stuff. "They do know we're brothers, right?" XD

tbh, I have loved SPN since high school and since I kept myself kind of on the edge, mildly lurking in the fandom, I have just stayed really happy with it? IDK how I managed it, but I honestly haven't seen nearly as much wank as other fandoms. I know there's a boatload, especially on the tumblr. But there's so much fic in that fandom that you never end up paying attention to the wank bc hello porn.

also I kinda stopped watching after S5 bc I was just too emotionally involved and every episode made me cry like a baby haha. whoops.

I shall try and skirt the wank as far as possible, it will depend on how ridiculously obsessed I get haha
